With close to 200 members today, the Texas Lamb Breeders Association continues to grow and support our youth across the state. Starting in the mid 1990's as a discussion among breeders the association was officially formed in 1998.
From the very beginning the TLBA has sponsored lamb shows, sales, and educational events to help our youth. We have given numerous scholarships and are now partnered with the San Antonio Livestock Show and the Texas Lamb Validation Committee to give four $2,000 scholarships and two $10,000 scholarships each year during the Sheep Skill-A-Thon at the San Antonio Show.
The TLBA has been major sponsor at the Star of Texas Show in Austin and is currently a major sponsor of the San Angelo Livestock Show and Rodeo. Since the partnership began with the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo the TLBA has paid out close to $1,000,000 to exhibitors of Texas-bred lambs at San Angelo.
The TLBA also has paid out several hundred thousand dollars to exhibitors at the other major stock shows through our breeder recognition program.
